¡Qué pesá! is a music video I directed, produced, wrote, edited and post-produced for Kika Lorace — the Madrid-based drag queen, singer and actress who has been one of the most recognisable voices in Spanish LGBTQI+ culture since her early days performing in Chueca. The song is a version of Rosalía’s Despechá, with new lyrics by Álex Gilabert, and we shot it in Torremolinos — which, if you know anything about the history of queer Spain, is exactly the right place for a song like this.
Kika had already built a devoted following with tracks like La Reina del Grindr and Chueca es genial, and ¡Qué pesá!landed right in that same sweet spot: sharp, funny, unapologetically camp, and with something real underneath it.
