Popster magazine

Popster is a free LGBTQI+ events guide for Madrid that I designed and edited under Tiamat Studio — compact, no-frills, and built to be consulted at a glance rather than read cover to cover. The concept is simple: a monthly calendar of parties, drag shows, book presentations, concerts, film screenings, talks and queer cultural events happening across the city, organised by day, with icons that let you know at a glance what kind of night you’re walking into. Drama or dancing. Fiesta or coloquio. Dresscode or not.

The format is also its own statement: Popster is designed to double as a collectible poster, which means every issue is built around a cover portrait of someone from Madrid’s queer scene. Issue #1 featured Le Cocó, the lip of Madrid’s nightlife. Issue #2 put Samantha Hudson on the front, photographed by Adrián Cuerdo. Two issues came out in late 2024 — October and November — and both are available to download for free from this page.

It’s a small project, but the kind that fills a gap nobody else was quite filling: a free, physical, beautifully designed guide to what’s actually happening in Madrid’s LGBTQI+ spaces, every month, that you could pick up at a bar or unfold on your wall.
